Wait...what? A convicted rapist and murderer was allowed to walk free and he attempted to abduct another woman? Really? Clearly he served his time and was rehabilitated right? That's what prisons do isn't it? So tax payers paid to keep this guy in prison for the last 25 or so years for kidnapping, raping and murdering a 16 year old girl only to have him released and allowed to attempt it again. Seems to me that a large tree and a sturdy rope would have been much cheaper and prevented him from ever harming or attempting to harm anyone again.

Reform the system so tax payers and the victims families get to continue to pay for the piece of shit who killed their loved one to live out the rest of his life? Great idea.

I think part of "reforming" the system would be for those states that still support the death penalty to stop using the most expensive methods (Gas chamber and lethal injection) and instead go back to hanging and firing squad. Part of "reforming" the system should involve making executions public or even a Pay per View event. The families of the victims and production companies makes tons of money off a tragedy by publishing books and making movies. Why shouldn't the prison (state) make money by making the execution a public event? I would much rather see the pos get hung than see a movie about how he kidnapped, raped and brutally murdered some young girl. Part of the "reform" should be not making deals with guys like Gary Ridgeway (Green River Killer) so that instead of getting executed he gets to ride out the rest of his life in protective custody in prison. All so police could find more bodies and more families could get closure. I understand that for some of the families this would be a good thing but for others it is like tearing open an old wound. Now thanks to that deal no one in the state of Washington will ever receive the death penalty again. Unless what? They murder 100 people and decide a deal isn't that important to them.

Our "system" is so fucked up now we might as well not have it and let people handle it themselves. Innocent people getting convicted of shit they didn't do, criminals getting convicted and slapped on the wrist, let out a few months later to do it again or in the above case he was let out years later and what did he do? He tried to strike again. The system is failing. It's failing the victims and it's failing society. These asshole criminals know that IF they do get caught they will serve a minimum of time because of the "system" and because of overcrowding. They will learn new skills in prison and hits the streets to do it all over again.

Meanwhile the good people suffer while the criminals prosper.
