Yeah, looking to prevent widespread crop damage is porkbelly spending.
Having to govern is hard, as some of our congress critters are starting to learn. You can't just yell at the wall, when YOU are the ones in control. Then please tell Schumer the harm HE is doing. Adding DACA has no place in a budget bill. Nor did half the shit that got put into budget bills by Rs in previous years. Same shit, different suit.

But seriously DACA can simmer.

I don't think Congress should be paid during a government shutdown.
If the government shuts down, then they aren't doing their job.
They shouldn't be paid for not doing their job.
Shutdowns would be very brief then.

Shutdowns would be very brief then. If you add them having to pay for the shutdown then we can probably eliminate shutdowns altogher.

Shutdowns would be very brief then. In case nobody's noticed, even when the government is open for business Congress doesn't do their job. Might get more done if they only wrote bills that covered a single topic and quit tacking on all the crap they do to essential legislation. Either that or give the President "Line Item Veto" powers just like many State Governors have. That way they can just "Red Pencil" the bullshit that got added on as the original bill was amended a dozen or more times. The current system is kind of like forcing a restaurant customer to eat the dog-shit the chef put on his plate if he wants to eat the prime rib he actually ordered. A line item veto would allow the President to scrape the dog-shit off his plate and onto the floor.
