Walmart is doing it now, as well. Item count. SShhhhH!! I do it at Costco because it's policy as a member I agree to. At Walmart, they can fuck themselves. Never an issue, just ignore them and keep walking....

Date: 1/13/18 Time: 3:50pm Place: Sam's Club gas station, Auburn I was at WM and decided to stop at the gas station to find out if (and when) they were closing. Talked with an old crusty guy that was working. He: The station is closing. me: When? he: As soon as we run out of gas. me: two days? he: I doubt if it lasts a couple of hours. me: I told him I wasn't a member so I couldn't gas up. he: get in line, we'll take care of you. me: This is the most stupidest decision I've heard of since I decided to get married. Prime... absolutely prime spot for a station. Sam Walton must be spinning so fast in his grave, he's probably ready to split atoms.

He told me that they would hold your cart while the employees from the customer service/return section and others would come over and surround you. If you would not comply, they would photograph and trespass you from the store and refund your membership in full. You agreed to it when you signed up for membership. Never actually seen it happen though. Walmart, told the guy at the door to fuck off as my son and I wheeled his new bicycle out the door.

Known him personally since gas station opening.

Side note: Some high volume gas stations, like Costco or Sam's Club, are refueled multiple times a day.... 10,000 gallons a DAY is not unheard of... The average station, based on statistics, is about 4k gallons a day...

Pumps were full and each line had probably two to three cars waiting. That was a lot for that location. Yes, I agree with you on Costco, though. Each line ten deep... all day long.

They probably have an agreement like Costco that vendors are required to take back any products that aren't sold or are returned. Had a friend that supplied various stores with health and cosmetic products. Said he would never do business with Costco or other warehouse store like that with a 100% return policy. If someone buys a pack of toothbrushes and doesn't like them after 6 months, he has to take back whatever is left and refund the money.

Drove by the Sam's at the Auburn Stupid Mall, er;...Auburn Outlet yesterday. about 10 minutes before 10am, there was a line about 1/4 mile long stretching on the sidewalk to the end of the old "Sporting goods" store.
The gas station wasn't open yet (usually is on Sunday morning before store) and there was a tanker truck guy checking the fuel level. Looks as though he was gonna dump another load of fuel into the hole.

It used to be that I would drop my wife at Sam's, the dogs and I would go get fuel. Pick up Mom outside of Sam's after the fuel stop. Perfect synchronicity...or at least as good as I could ask for.
