Treble hooks on leaders taped around a cardboard box covered with loosely wrapped brown paper....attached to a railing by 200# line. Grab it, steal it, try to run.....not getting very far.

I've been thinking about setting up a package with cat/dog shit on a trunk @ walmart to see someone take it.... But I don't have any cat/dog shit.. lol..
Might have to put a laptop or something in there to kick it over the $750 mark (or whatever the value is) to get it into felony territory..
EDIT: Apparently theft of an 'access device' is a felony, so a credit/debit card could be construed as such. One could write 'Surprise! I got you your own credit card!' on a note on the top or something, and if you got the dude on video looking at the card, it's proof that he 'knew' it contained an 'access device', then he's in possession of a stolen access device as well.... 2x felony... Fun times.

This came up earlier this year. I thought I read that he was asked to stop it by the ATF. I see he is putting up more videos so I assume he has a lawyer on his side. I hate to see what will happen to him if a criminal hurts themselves with this. IANAL. I love the videos.

Trip wires are illegal when used with LIVE ammo and used in an anti-personnel manner, then they usually become DDs. They're specifically exempted as DDs when used as 'signalling devices'...

That guy is my neighbor. He leaves his setup out all year, so if anyone wants to try it, come on by! As it sits out all the time now (the boxes change once in a while) it's not used much. Package theft in the neighborhood as gone way down though.
Seriously though, these "alarms" are pretty readily available and use everything from a 22 to a 308. I think I've seen them at the show in Puyallup.
