I guess the first question is what $ value would you have placed on it pre-wreck? Let's say that dollar value is $2000.

With full written disclosure (that you keep a copy of), you can simply list it for whatever you think it's worth now, say $1000, on the interwebs, as a parts vehicle if it's not driveable in current condition. Let some mechanics part it out in their own garage.

Or donate to charity for a huge tax writeoff, assuming deductions for charitable donations will survive - which we don't know yet. Talk to your tax guy.

Others mentioned parting it out but that might take a long time, lot of effort, and leave you with a disabled scavengered truck in your yard.

Honestly bud, it would be a complete waste of time if you just try to part it out. Those S10 4 cylinder motors have notorious head gasket issues, so a good running motor would be the main value. You will need to sell it all in one swoop, that is unless you want a parted out rig in your yard, or random Craigslist dudes making visits to buy shit off of it.

Sorry to say the obvious, but that WAS a nice truck. The driver should be grounded, like forever. I just hope my high school senior doesn’t wreck his/our car. I hope she’s OK.

I threw caution into the wind and listed it on CL, I have seen ALOT worse on there for a boat load of money so we shall see what this brings.

Eh, sorry you're out the good truck, but glad she's okay (you didn't mention injuries)....

Glad, too, she found a relatively decent landing spot, with someone decent to deal with about it....

If you're gonna drive, there's gonna be accidents....I'm always thankful when there are no injuries.

Hopefully it scared her enough to be more careful :thumbsup2:

She broke her toe, and got her ass chewed by PCS.

John, she is a good kid with almost straight A's, unfortunately she didn't hit her brake when she needed to and IMHO was a little over confident which in my experience can always bite you in the ass. This could have been a lot worse and I'm thankful for that.

I'm out of a truck, but I have a healthy Kid.........That's a win in my book.
