This thread is about the Texas shooting and related events. Let’s keep it on topic.

If someone wants to discuss CCW sashes or how officers respond in general, please start or revive another thread. Thank you.

So far from the evidence presented we have:

1- The military failed to process information on a Federal data base that could have prevented him from buying a gun.

2- Escaped from mental hospital and never captured and returned to the facility for further treatment.

3- A history of domestic violence and animal cruelty.

Am I missing anything? So many red flags on this one. It is no mystery that the official systems failed on multiple levels including the military, the legal system, and our current mental health system.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe mental hospital stay should also be a disqualifying factor, so the hospital/whoever sent him there also failed to do their job in entering him as prohibited person to NICS?

It makes me sick that the libs want to restrict gun rights in order to "child proof society" so dangerous convicts/mentally ill can walk around.

How about if an adult is too dangerous to own/carry a gun we keep them locked up? Why have a bunch of people walking around who are "partial citizens" and only have SOME civil rights? Total insanity.

:plusone: :plusone: :plusone:
I called in to Medved's show on 770 AM yesterday to make this exact point, and he just talked over me and cut me off. He wouldn't let me point out the insanity of trying to prevent access to the tool while letting the real weapon (the violent offender) roam free.

This POS should still have been in prison for his offenses. THAT would have kept him from buying a gun and shooting up a church.

I believe is only if it was an involuntary "commitment" that went through a court. Also in my reading commitment (at least under WA law) is different than an involuntary evaluation. But there aren't many details of how he got there.

Totally agree on all these points. Complete system failure and predictable outcome.
Yet the antis are calling for more laws.

There's no penalty or sanction for an agency that fails to send info to NCIC/NICS.
The NICS Improvement Act is toothless.

I agree 100% This is the fix.....

We as taxpayers pay millions on homeless a year and receive NOTHING in return ....and it doesn't seem like enough is spent on mental health.

And, I dont listen to Medved for that very reason....he doesn't listen.

Its frustrating.

Its become a 3 hour Medved soliloquy.

Wow - lots of help.

https://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/texas ... ms-n818756

"Wilson County District Attorney Audrey Louis said the Texas Crime Victims' Compensation Fund, part of the state attorney general's office, had approved distributing $6,500 per victim to help with funeral costs."

A company has donated caskets for all of the victims.

"The Southern Baptist Convention has offered to pay the funeral expenses for all 26 victims of the church shooting in Texas."

Also, the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team has 16 crisis counselor/chaplains there.

There are many others as well - many funds, many individuals, many messages from around the world, many prayers.

The responses are worth reading, lots of entertainment coming out of that tweet. Here's one:

I love the "possible modifications." Maybe @USATODAY could modify the reporter with a brain.

I didn't even know about the possibility of a chainsaw bayonet but now I kind of want one.

This is who we're up against. Remember that the next time people start talking about "compromise" or "common sense."

You forgot the recent threats made towards the mother in law.
