A short article worth reading and sharing, especially to the lunatics out there hyperventilating on current issues.

Finally, something that forms some semblance of common sense. Good read.

Why did you start your countdown from 10? I don't think we have to wait a whole count of 10 for the attacks...

Good article - makes a lot of sense.

Excellent article... It helped me understand some of the insanity.
It seems to boil down to Confirmation Bias, and both sides are hugely susceptible to it. The "leaders" on both sides are manipulating this weakness in the human psyche and whipping up their little armies.

Quote:
Evidently, Republicans don’t depend on politicians for moral leadership. That’s probably a good call.

:thumbsup2:
I especially liked how Mr Adams so clearly described how President Trump didn't sell himself as a moral leader and is not trying to take on that role now.
Quote:
The tricky part here is that any interpretation of what happened could be confirmation bias. But ask yourself which one of these versions sounds less crazy:

Clearly, even "our side" has Confirmation Bias.

Some of the comments are notable.

Orwell was first and foremost a critical thinker. The main feature in (real) critical thinkers is that they can lean towards any political ideology, but they never marry it.

I saved the page. I will want to read it again, and you never know how long common sense will last on the internet...

Quote:
4. The Oversized Reaction

It would be hard to overreact to a Nazi murder, or to racists marching in the streets with torches. That stuff demands a strong reaction. But if a Republican agrees with you that Nazis are the worst, and you threaten to punch that Republican for not agreeing with you exactly the right way, that might be an oversized reaction.

Exactly what I see happening. On both sides. Even here. (Though less and less, on here.)

Quote:
For the past two days I have been disavowing Nazis on Twitter. The most common response from the people who agree with me is that my comic strip sucks and I am ugly.

I would be rich if I had a dollar for every time that has happened to me. It has ALWAYS perplexed me. I still don't understand it.
