Last year the tent floor space was partly taken up with rifles laying in cases. Not happening this year. I've got a few more things to do before it's complete but, you get the idea.
I'm not sure that leaning that honker of a scope against the wood is a great idea in the long run. Can you flip it to rest on the forearm?

It might flip and rest fine. The scope is length is an illusion due to the sun shade on. That's not a long term resting place anyhow. Just something for the camp. I can't imagine loosing zero resting like that when I think about all the bouncing around on forest roads. Of course if I'm just ignorant, I'm always down to learn something.
Awful large rack for one gun....should the rest of the space be taken up by a boot inverter/dryer, some pegs for your gloves and sock rack for drying as well?

Maybe he just needs a bigger gun. Try to be a "glass half full" kind of guy, Jim.

I like it. That improves more than just floor space. Is it ok for a crackpot to volunteer a crackpot idea? Good, I didn't hear you say "No!"
Just an idea... something (slat, 1x2 or even smaller maybe) let-in to the 2x4 near where the red line is drawn in.
Yes, I agree. A 1x2 would be nice. I have a 2x4 cut for that space but, it's taking up too much space. I need drill pilot holes for that 1x2 right? I had to drill pilot holes everywhere else after one piece split.

It's "A" gun rack. What would you do with "A" gun rack? Get it? #partytimeexcellent
I do want to add a shelf in the back that folds into it. I'd put some things on the side but, it needs to pack in the load without peripheral pieces that are likely to break off. I'm going to cut out more spaces for more guns.

Yeah, Jim. I could make a 338 Win Mag rack that holds two rifles but, you're too busy shooting a state match.

Yes...Next time, if there is a next time, I'm going to do that. I wanted to use what ever I had at home and not buy lumber. I had to buy the hardware though.
But, you were getting one hell of a sun tan based on the last couple of photos of your bad ole self..........................

Speaking of tanning.
When we went to Idaho, the hotel we stayed at had four tanning beds that were complimentary for guests and a fitness center that consisted of two treadmills and a recumbent bike machine. I've stayed in a few hotels that have spa service but, I was not expecting tanning beds is Smallville, Idaho.
