Could you imagine the liability if he said hey everybody should do this.

And for the record the guy broke the first rule of a gunfight he didn't have a gun.

When its time to go in:
That place of steel and stone. I pray that you will keep me safe, so I will not walk alone. Help me to do my duty, please watch me on my rounds.
Amongst those perilous places and slamming steel door sounds. God, keep my fellow Officers well and free from harm. Let them know I'll be there too, whenever there's alarm.
Above all when I walk my beat, no matter where I roam. Let me go back whence I came, to family and home

So what you're saying is they only and continually say not to do that only to protect themselves, (cops), from any liability?

It most always comes off as something like:
"We are the professionals, you're not. Dial 911 and we'll get there after we finish our doughnuts and coffee." :ffight:

Everyone sneers when Uncle "Shotgun Joe" Biden DOES recommend taking on armed assailants (by lighting off rounds through the front door).

Everyone sneers when a cop DOES NOT recommend taking on an armed assailant.

There's just no pleasing you people.

He came in with a gun, then switched to holding a gun and a knife in the same hand.

It was a toy gun, per the story.

I was too lazy to add all that to my first post.

He came in with what looked like a toy gun.

It looked like someone behind the counter figured out it was a toy gun.

So, he took out a knife and brandished that.

Then held BOTH the knife, and the toy gun in one hand, while still demanding they fill his bag with cash.

I'd treat it as a real gun until the thug was neutralized, then verify plasticity.
I vote for .Gov employees to tell Us, The People, to fight back at evil wherever it rears its ugly head.

We are all ultimately responsible for our own well-being. They know it, and occasionally some of them are courageous enough to remind us of that. Even the courts have said it.

He couldn't afford a real gun, which is why he turned to a life of crime.

So you can't buy a gun with an EBT card? I thought Obama fixed that.

If he knew it was a toy gun and had some sort of fighting skills then by all means have at it. However he probably should have had a real gun if it was going to take on a criminal regardless. If he didn't know it was a fake gun then he was really stupid.

I wouldn't get involved unless i had the drop on the miscreant and also had the upper hand in level of force.
Otherwise stay out of it and live to fight another day.
