So...looks like Photobucket is out of the free image hosting game. Even with all the ads, they can't make it work. If you want to link images on 3rd party sites like WaGuns, prepare to pay... $400 a year People are fleeing to sites like Imgur or Postimage.org. Photobucket will make some money on the bloggers and those that need it for business purposes but I can't see many average Joes paying that much just to show off their guns or puppy pics or what have you. Any suggestions on where to go? I liked the private settings on PB. I could post something non-gun related and not have people browse my gun pics...or vice versa.

Yeah heard about this on another forum, lot of people are pretty bummed/pissed. I guess it went into effect Sat, I saw lots of links down due to it. I know I went and backed up all my images from there, plan to just delete the account.

I never saw/had a need for such sites. Doesn't your ISP have free web hosting? Even if they charge, it can't be that much. All over the web now is the photobroke-it carnage. This can't be good for them. It's a little on the non-modern side, but using your personal web space works great. And your photos are your photos. I may quit my ISP, but I will have my photos. http://pws.cablespeed.com/~pablomail//1911s.JPGJust upload using FireFTP or maybe some webhosts have utilities now.......

I can't stand Photobucket. I like Imgur when I want to post whatever random crap. If i want to share a folder of private images with people I use OneDrive.

It's a little on the non-modern side, but using your personal web space works great. And your photos are your photos. I may quit my ISP, but I will have my photos. Are you sure? I had a web page under a Comcast account about ten years ago. I quit Comcast, went back later with a different account name, and now my older web page is gone. I suspect that if you quit your ISP, you'll lose that data at some point. It's like using "@comcast.net" as your e-mail address; it locks you in to that ISP unless you want to change your email address.

I fucking hate Comcast. Fuckers, i pay 178 bucks a month for expanded basic cable and decent speed Internet. Bill has crept up 40 bucks in the last year with no service changes. Time for another phone call.

BEFORE you quit your ISP, create a folder on your desktop. Open FireFTP, connect, highlight all your folders and files at the host and move them back down. You should have them previously, but maybe scattered all over. Easy peasy. I don't know about Comcast. They don't do webhosting for the cost??? Main point is, you don't need Photophuckit if you have webhosting with your ISP, probably even commiecast.

Hmm I haven't used my photobucket account in sometime, but I have some amusing gifs and stuff there. I guess I'll need to port it all to my Imgur...

I just got on and everything was there. I did get a window/popup that asked for $9.99 to increase storage to over 2 gig... It's a pain in the ass but since they rehosted it's much faster

What's the point of Photobucket if not to post links?
