First, he should be applauded for carrying responsively and reacting to try to do something to help.

However, I really question the judgement of a permit holder running blindly into an active shooting situation waving a gun.

Imagine if you're a cop or a carrier and you pull into the lot immediately after the shooting and when the permit holder runs around with his pistol. You could easily think HE is the bad guy and drop him.

Tragic for the cop. I hate to see these shootings.

Yeah, I definitely would not have run out with my firearm in my hands. I didn't want to mention that part of the video tho.

Nor would I have given my firearm to someone else there. Sounds like there was enough people to assist the Trooper without him helping directly.

In my situation I was in a few months ago I didn't think about pulling or not pulling I just pulled my weapon and ran to my buddy in need of back up. I don't recall actually pulling it I remember seeing him about to be run over then next thing I know I have my weapon pointed at the guys head in the car. It happened that fast.

When its time to go in:
That place of steel and stone. I pray that you will keep me safe, so I will not walk alone. Help me to do my duty, please watch me on my rounds.
Amongst those perilous places and slamming steel door sounds. God, keep my fellow Officers well and free from harm. Let them know I'll be there too, whenever there's alarm.
Above all when I walk my beat, no matter where I roam. Let me go back whence I came, to family and home

Yeah, initial CERT training is at least an 8 week course. There are also sub-sections that some areas may engage in, which can add classes (communications, advanced medical, etc.), plus there are classes periodically to maintain skill levels or help train others, or FEMA online courses that some CERT centers will offer for additional training....

Then, there's CAT training .....and no, it's not a feline......

Yes, he removed it the next day for respect to the fallen officer's family. He just came right home after the event and started filming and uploading.

Sometimes you just gotta vent...

I don't blame him one bit....He doesn't have a station to go to with a bunch of guys who went through the same thing that you can laugh or joke it off with....People you literally trust your life with..... Just listening to him I can tell this really fucked him up.. I bet you he is second guessing EVERYTHING he did.... 'If i only stopped to say hi to him'.... 'If I only threw that cup out that I've been meaning to get out of my cupholder'....'If I only walked a little bit slower into the store'...etc etc etc...

There are some things that I've had to come to terms with as 'shit happens'..You analyze it until it consumes you..then you analyze it some more...eventually you just gotta let it go, and it's still there, just buried really really deep so you don't think about it...

He's gonna need his wife/gf to be standing by him to help him through this...
