Pure tart cherry juice. Done, end of story. Usually one quart/ liter bottle will handle it At least on the pain side My trigger is shellfish, and I love me some clams, oysters, crab, lobster...... And beer doesn't help either. Doctor tipped me off on this fix as opposed to daily meds Works every time, always keep a few liters in the pantry just in case. And yes, you can mix it with vodka, if you need a cocktail.

I see your gout, and raise you one kidney stone. According to my doc, same cause. Too much uric acid. I passed this naturally, a few years ago. No pain meds. No visit to the ER. Just "passed" it. It was a natural childbirth, you might say. About 10mm long. As you can see, spikey! I flipped it over so you can see both sides. - Spoiler: show

My right knee. The first time it happened I thought it was something like a strain, and it would go away after awhile if I took it easy. Finally it got to the point I had my daughter take me to the ER. i was crying while trying to get my leg into the car. I don't know what my "trigger" is. I just know that if I skip my meds for a few days I will start feeling it coming back.

I had my first attack of gout in 1994, Dr. said Uric acid was too high. I drank beer regularly but was not overweight fat but had muscle weight. I didn't have another flair up for 15 years after a back injury ended my working career and started to gain weight due to the non ability to exercise. I went to a specialist to see if I had psoriatic arthritis due to hands & finger aches. Dr. asked if I had ever had gout before, said yes & he immediately wanted to write 3 prescriptions to take every day, I told him to pound sand!!! I have not had a flair up since I quit drinking beer... go figger... I hate Dr's until I need them on occasion!!!

I had a ridiculous amount of pain in my right knee. Was killing me, only at rest and only with the knee bent. No toe issues. Doc wasn't sure what it was. Xrays were good and it is only the right knee.
We tried the Colchicine. I seemed to work and know I can sit without my knee screaming 10 minutes later. We still aren't sure it is Gout, I don't have some of the classic symptoms but I think it is time to make some dietary changes. I need to lose about 15 pounds and am going to cut back on the beer. I'm not a big red meat eater but I do like my burgers from time to time so this will be a special occasion thing.

mancat wrote: Never had it. I always assumed most that got it had shit diet and were overweight. Yeah, bad assumption. Mostly with gout either you are a shitty excreter or over producer of uric acid - determined somewhat by genetics, but can be accentuated by choices. Now if you are both and eat shitty and are fat..........ouch!

Where to start..........hmmm...........try to be brief but many many details. I has a post surgery gout flare in my knee - to the point of yesterday I woke up and I could not walk. Surgery April 25, Tues, surgeon supplied photos of internal knee packed with crystals. REALLY bad. We had a huge poke and other seafood feast last Saturday May 6. Not good. Wrong foods, dummy me. Started flaring Tuesday May 9. Ibuprofen and short work days. Tons of water, cherry juice. No help. Well, so different than toe flares. Small detail: I started Allopurinol April 27. So Thursday I call my GP. The receptionist calls me back and says "Colchrys" (Colchicine) - I tell her (exact words): "Tell the Dr., colchicine makes me extremely sick and I cannot tolerate it, please get back with the Dr for an alternative and let me know'. SO I hear nothing more from the GP. Wife took me to Evergreen Urgent Care in Redmond Sat. AM (I was using crutches). Dr there says "how is the Indomethacin working?" I do a double take. Huh? Turns out the GP receptionist neglected to inform the patient there was a script called in. Ugg!! So Doc doesn't do anything except tell me to pick up the script, and directs me to stop taking Allopurinol!!!! He doesn't even answer my direct question: How do I lower my uric acid level and scour out the sodium monourate crystal? During the week I started finding stuff like this: http://www.timefornaturalhealthcare.com ... oint-pain/I started into Indomethacin. Working well on the inflammation. Bought some Devil's Claw. Started that too. Lemon water, check. Better for sure this AM. I HATE gout!!
