A 700gr .50 BMG round @ 2978 ft/sec = 13787 lb ft or 18692 joules A 4k lb (28000000 grains) car at 20 MPH (29.333~ fps) = 53505 lb ft or 72543 joules
The big difference is area of impact is much larger with a car so the force is distributed across a larger area resulting in a lower force applied to a specific point; a lower PSI of the impact area.
