Just curious, where where most large appliance and parts manufactured in the 80's? And now? Sadly appliances aren't the only things that have diminished reliability and quality control since the 80's and prior. No denying that there have been major tech improvement along the way. Even so.....

Lest not compare 80's appliances that were built to last a literal lifetime, and a domestic automobile of the same era that barely made it past the warranty!

We have a '86 f15O with 32Ok on it, and my daily '86 bronco with 345k both 2nd owner rigs. Not saying it is the best era, but it shares the same bulletproof drivetrains of earlier rigs with more anti-rust coatings on the body.

Anything can go 500k with enough repairs. My 81 bronco was completely worn and rusted at 150k. My wife’s 2014 Highlander has 170k with zero repairs, just maintenance. But my 95 whirlpool fridge is flawless and my 2015 Samsung fridge is hot garbage. Nothing makes any sense anymore.
