I was actually talking to Pablo, but sorry about yours too. It's a horrible affliction and hard for anyone who has never had it to understand the level of pain.
I stopped taking Allopurinol daily about 9 months ago. Hasn't made much difference and I have only had one major gout attack since, about the same as when I was taking it. The trick I have found is to determine when one is coming on and do the two Colchicine with one an hour later. Stops it from happening. Taking Allopurinol during a gout attack makes it worse (or so the books say). I always have Colchicine on hand, not worth a trip to the ER to get some, and it's one of those things you can't wait a day for. P.S. The reason it hurts so bad is uric acid crystallizes into sharp needles in your joints. What seems to set me off is eating a large amount of shrimp. And if I expect to do that, I'll take a couple Allopurinol beforehand. golddigger14s wrote: Guntrader wrote: Damn, I'm sorry. Yes, shellfish and fried foods are two of the major culprits.
I've been helping my mother-in-law deal with this for years, and all she does is get take-out food of the two aforementioned culprits, and then call me asking why she's having a flare-up.... |

But at least when you click 'Submit' on a new post, your browser (Chrome, in my case) doesn't instead open a file directory window asking where to save the page. Only 1 in about 15 new posts actually goes through like normal. |
