So this guy emailed me and agreed to send me a cashiers check for a gun I have listed for sale on Armslist.
After we agree on the price with shipping to his FFL, I get the following email from him.....

"There will be extra funds on the cashier check that i want you to send to my brother so he can also purchase a gun also and he will be the one to come pickup for the next transactions... it is pay check mailed directly to you as I want this gun very much and want no delay in getting it. Upon the clearance kindly deduct the agreed price + shipping and extra$35 for securing the gun for me after which I will make arrangement on how you will get the extra funds to him"

Give me a break....What a moron...
He also wanted me to email him a copy of my driver's license....Yeah right...lol

My response to him....Go to hell.....NO DEAL

Mini RANT over...lol

Yup, classic scammer move.

As soon as I hear "cashier's check," I'm done.

You run at the first mention of cashier's check? I've paid for every online purchase with a cashier's check. Then again, it was for the exact amount ;)

I know that cashier's checks can be legit, but in my experience they're not used very often. For online purchases I typically see credit card, PayPal, personal check, or USPS money order as payment methods. I think the only time I've ever used a cashier's check is when making a big bank-related deal, like putting a down payment down on a house.

"The right of self defence is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Personal weapons are what raised mankind out of the mud, and the rifle is the queen of personal weapons. The possession of a good rifle, as well as the skill to use it well, truly makes a man the monarch of all he surveys. It realizes the ancient dream of the Jovian thunderbolt, and as such it is the embodiment of personal power. For this reason it exercises a curious influence over the minds of most men, and in its best examples it constitutes an object of affection unmatched by any other inanimate object.

And from me, you'll see paypal or usps MO if online.

I don't do credit cards or personal checks any more.

Probably cash if in person. If my spidey senses are tingling, it'll be a postal MO, and the stub will still be here at home. I will have bought it with my debit card, so there is a record of it.

He also said the price is "firm" and he "really doesn't want to sell it." :ROFLMAO:

I guess he REALLY REALLY doesn't want to sell it.

Just when you think you have heard it all. The Nigerian Prince is back. I got this offer on a rifle:

"I`m ready to buy it and the state of the Gun is great likewise the price. I wont be able to come make the pickup myself but i have a FFL Dealer which i told i would buy a Gun and he said its OK if i wont be making the pickup myself because i just relocated and i still have my properties i`m moving from your area which the FFL Dealer would come with the movers to move my properties. He would come with the paperwork of the FFL so you will apply signatures where necessary. Would you accept a Bank Certified check as payment and after it clears in your bank a local pickup will be made as explained and i`m willing to add an extra $100 to the payment for you to secure the purchase for me till the check arrives. Please get in touch with your name and mailing address to send the check to. Include your phone # as well so I will be able to contact you about the transaction. Thanks"

You betcha. What could go wrong? :facepalm2:

Interesting part is I have two listed, days apart and he sent his initial "I would like to buy it" to both ads that were pages apart. He must just be running through all the ads.
