Dividing sticky's vs new posts

Tue Mar 15, 2022 9:13 pm

On this forum i find at a glance it's impossible to see where sticky's end and new threads begin. Mabey a hair different shading or a boarder line will help.

I mostly notice this when i pop into a category and try to find my bearings, it doesn't feel as natural is it does on other forums. I end up looking at the last post banner on the right, looking for todays date, even then i occasionally see stuff from 3/15/21 or such

Here's a screen shot from the General Firearm Discussion forum for reference:

I've added a red line between the stickies and the regular threads. Notice that the stickies have that circle with the "i" in it on the left?

Well, unless you're on mobile. Then you're screwed. :wink05:

But can I suggest something that's even better 99% of the time?

Don't read by individual sub-forum. Use "View unread posts" at the top right of the page. That way, you'll see everything that gets posted, and you won't miss something important that's posted in a small sub-section that you never read.

Yea i see the icons to the left, it takes they eyes off the main topics and, it isnt as intuitive as the announcements that have a space between them on the main board(i'm on PC/chrome).

I'm nit-picking, but it's the little stuff you see over and over again that can make a fraction of a difference every visit. (It's the same as the production machining world i work in. A guy who spends 5 mins a week looking for a wrench, would be better off having a wrench supplied by the company within a month) It's not a deal killer for me, i'm just putting my 2c in where the forum can feel better with a simple change.
