Mixed Fuel

Thu Aug 24, 2017 9:20 am

I have two 55 gallon drums of gassed diesel fuel.
They're probably at about 50/50 mix diesel and gas.

Two steel drums, would need one of those drums back at some point in the future, you can keep the other drum or bring it back.

Thanks to the crews, I've not only stockpiled my drum for starting fires during hunting, but out of drums and space to store more.

Use it to start campfires, evict drug houses, burn piles or bon fires.
It's mixed with diesel so not explosive as regular gas and gets hot.

I fill up 2.5 gal DEF containers with this mixed fuel, put anywhere from 2 to 4 of those containers in the fire pit and stack logs on top of it all. Pop a hole in one and light it, takes a couple minutes for other containers to melt the top off to start burning but when they are all burning, wet logs don't stand a chance and wet clothes dries fast!

Pick up at my shop in Fife.

A mix like this would work in one of the multi-fuel military vehicles, wouldn't it ?

Nice PIF!

The alcohol in me says we should just take the top off one and light it on fire. How long would it burn? Would it explode?

Could we use these to clean out the homeless camps?

Definitely can be used in multi fuel vehicle.
Or used in a waste oil heater.
Or used to kill blackberry bushes.
Or used to burn slash piles.
Hell, if you've got an early diesel engine, 80's-90's, cut it down with a bit of trans fld or mtr oil and run it.
And no, pop the bung off and light it, it won't explode. Been there done that and extremely disappointed.
Now a 5 gallon can of gasoline, portable O2 bottle strapped to it with a lit flare strapped opposite of O2 bottle then shot thru at a distance makes a nice mushroom cloud with aluminum shrapnel from the O2 tank....not that I'd admit doing that.....it's unsafe and probably against the law...so don't do it...

Hey if someone wants this for their waist oil heater.
I have a 5 gallon bucket of used Way Oil 2.
It came out of the CNC milling Machine at my work.
I'd compare it to 10 weight. As far as viscosity.
We don't run coolent in our CNC so it fairly clean as far as used oils go.
Pick up in Auburn

For the record...... I burn waste oil for heat in my hangar. We take oil, tranny fluids, diesel, from many as they are happy to get rid of it. We are happy to get it and burn it. My heater is rated at 300,000 BTU's. Not small.

Anyone that get caught giving us stuff mixed with gasoline or solvents, gets put on a shit list, and is refused to drop off anymore for all time and eternity.

My heater when a layer of gas or solvents goes through, starts rumbling, and roaring. LOUD. Plus it's not advised per manufacturer.... At least mine anyways.

DO NOT run any thing with gasoline in a waste oil heater or a smudge pot.

BAD BAD BAD.

Worked in a 14 bay heavy equipment shop in Seattle for many years. In floor heating via waste oil burner with 10k gallon tank. We dumped gas in it all the time, granted it'd get cut down with whatever was in the tank at the time, but come towards the end of the heating season, we dumped whatever we could get our hands on even if it meant 180 gallons of mixed fuel or 180 gallons of 10 year old diesel.
Never had a problem in 11 years with it, might have been a unit that could do that.
