Some people will poopoo a cabinet like this, but I'm here to tell you they can work. A caregiver hired to take care of my father robbed my parents blind; stole jewelry, silverware, coins, BB cards, Credit cards. But the scumbag didn't get rifles or my Great Grandfather's RR watch or anything that was locked inside a cabinet just like this one bolted inside a closet. Probably because he was afraid to make that much noise busting into it. But they also keep kids out, and maybe intruders. Inside a closet you might even get a little fire protection. IMO these are well worth having if you don't have anything else or if you need a little extra capacity.
Nice gesture. I hope whoever gets it really needs it.

FYI, I just put it on a dolly to make it easier to move around the garage. It has holes in the bottom and the back. I used lag bolts to screw it onto the floor (I had a carpeted wood floor) and toggle bolts into the drywall behind the cabinet to make it more secure. I know it's not as secure as a safe, but you can get it up a flight of stairs if you want.
