Another new member from the east coast

Fri May 19, 2017 11:18 pm

Hi Everyone, I'm from NY state moved over here a couple months ago.
First time shooting a rifle, and is planning to get a AR15 in the next week or two! Looking for people to go shoot with and as well as learning a thing or two from the forum!

Also if someone could recommend a good local gun shop that has good service and prices? I'm currently leaned towards a local brand Aero Precision, is this something good to start off with?

Thanks!

Welcome!

Aero Precision is indeed in WA and makes good stuff.

On the north end, as has been stated lowpriceguns is great. DJ's in Bothell is best for used guns and oddball stuff. Doesn't sound like you're in full collector mode yet. Get a great rifle, handgun, and shotgun first to see what you enjoy. Add a 10/22 or .22 AR upper you can swap on your regular rifle.

AR15 prices are great right now, don't pay full retail! Learn how to shoot with iron sights first (the metal sights you have to line up) unless you have bad/old eyes. For ARs I really like reflex sights like the Meprolight M21 or Trijicon RX, or 1-4x scopes like the Hi-Lux CMR or Nikon M223. A lot of newer rifles don't come with iron sights and some people just never buy them. Some real morons shoot with no sights or scopes at all :)

If I lived a little closer I'd love to show you a few things, but 250 miles are what they are...

Welcome. There are some really good ranges and gun shops in the area.

Check out Interlake and West Coast Armory. Snoqualmie Valley Rifle Club too.

LPG, West Coast, Pantel Tactical are great shops.

Welcome to WaGuns, alabesky! :wavey:

Congrats on escaping New York. I went to college there and lived there for a few years. That was enough, no SAFE Act for me thank you very much. :angryfire:

Welcome!! I work in Redmond. Shoot mostly at SVRC. Mostly shop online. But Randy in Lynnhood is worth the drive for FFL and deals.

Greetings from Shoreline. Indoor AR15 ranges include West Coast Armory North in Everett and Shooting Sports Northwest in Bothell. A great outdoor range is Kenmore Gun Range in the Bothell area, and further north is the Marysville Rifle Club west of I5 in the Arlington area. Both are ok. Shooting in Mt. Baker Forest is free but be sure to check at the Ranger Station as you enter the forest to get some advice on where to go without scaring the tree huggers.
