Just wanted to drop a line and introduce myself. Been living in Tucson for the last 6 years working in LE, I'm originally from Sammamish but now I live in Marysville, been back about 6 months. Drove up I-90 a bit ago to some old shooting and 4WD spots I noticed a lot have been blocked off, this weekend I went for a drive out on Mountain loop highway and turned off on Green Mtn road, noticed a ton of trash, very unfortunate to see the lack of care from people. Online search for outdoor shooting spots and potential shooting area cleanup groups have lead me here.

Stay safe,
T

Welcome Flying F!

There are quite a lot of people on here who put in serious time and effort cleaning up aforementioned dumping spots. A member (TNL) even printed up pamphlets to distribute and blogs about the problem and solutions.
An oft repeated rule is "Leave it cleaner than you found it."

Welcome to WaGuns.

Welcome aboard! I'm sure a clean up and shoot will be scheduled as soon as it warms up a little. Some of these events are pretty cool. Often done in conjunction with DNR. There's a rumor that a mobile smoker might show up in the north to feed the volunteers killer smoked meats too.

Thanks for the welcoming, reference the above, I fully agree in leaving it cleaner than how I found it... Now off to locate some long range areas which I'm guessing I will be hard pressed to find. One of the only times I miss the open desert...

Welcome back to Washington !!!!!!!!!!

If you go East of the mountains, long range shooting areas can be found.

Welcome!

Depending on what you are considering long range, Snoqualmie Valley Rifle Club is outdoor and has a 200 yd range. You are your own range master there no mag limits or BS just no 50cal. open 7 days a week unless there is an event. Cascade Shooting Facilities has a 600 yd range but I don't know too much about it. Some of the range masters were jerks when I was there for a class. Might be too far from Marysville though.

850+ yards is where I'm shooting at. Thanks for the info though, I know of SVRC since it's right by my parents but I've never used it, might be worth a chance. I'll look into the Cascade option as well as I've never heard of them.

Thanks

Welcome to WaGuns, T!

Do you still work in LE? Or are you retired or doing something else now?

And yeah ... true long range shooting is really hard to come by in western Washington. :frust:
