Hey guy, I'm some bored guy that likes guns apparently. I did a 9 year stretch in the Army that ended a little over 2 years ago. My wife and I have our WA CPL's although only I carry. My interest didn't come around until recently so catching up has been in order and overwhelming. I thought I'd stumble around here and learn some shit.

Welcome to WaGuns! Just remember - just because you have a DD214... doesn't mean you can shoot (a pistol)... unless you carried and used one in the military... and that still doesn't mean you can shoot it well. Some background about me... I carried an issued 1911 - I qualified but besides that... The military is all about your go to battle rifle... not about pistols. As for carry... good that you carry. Your wife will come to it when she's ready. Not everyone needs to carry or is ready to carry. We all come to carrying when the time is right for each of us. Support her and let her decide when she's comfortable and ready. Thank you for your service!

I'm certainly grateful for the welcomes. pdrake, I am prepared to put some work in. I tend to have the time now days. I've already fallen to reloading, and have a pair of Anderson lowers to keep me busy. It seems I may find some old friends after all.
oldkim, I learned that all too quickly. I never carried or even fired a pistol in my service. I would consider myself learned in M16/iron sights set up but even that changed with my AR15. It was kind of nice just having to make do with what you had, now that I have options...... forget it. lol I was at least able to remember hearing (a lot) that its not easy. My wife and I started shooting at the same time so I was also able to concentrate my efforts on helping her with her comfort and knowledge, and not worrying that I wasn't hitting a damn thing. I try to keep an appropriate distance on her carrying because we both have a frustration with holster options that work. She has no problem squeezing the trigger at the range, and that ok for now. My pistol work has improved slightly, but ammo holds me back. That's my excuse for now, but a new die set and some components will quickly put me out of excuses. Thanks!

I understand where you are with the wife. I'm still (gently) struggling to get the wife to carry. As for reloading components, americanreloading.com is a great place for cheap plinking bullets. There is a whole section on the forum dedicated to reloading, and if you are not sure, definitely ask!

Welcome aboard. Lots of vets here, and most of us are patriotic gun owners. Watch out for the few who aren't though, and don't get sucked into stupid debates that crop up here every day by a few trouble makers.
