Since so many of you like the bench, I'll show you what I'm working on this week...
This is the larger (60" long) of two orcas to be mounted on a third piece as a single total sculpture. Wood is Sycamore. Large orca has flippers and flukes glued in. Smaller orca (calf) is a single piece of wood. Hope to get the white areas carved out today. My orca project got pushed to the side for some months but have now been finished. Days and days of sanding, refining details, hand rubbing with oil, sealing with spar / wet sanding / repeating / repeating / repeating AND developing a mounting system which allows the orca to be easily removed for transporting the piece. It's all done and now on display at the You & I Art Gallery in Kennewick, WA.
It's all Sycamore. That is honestly a piece of art... I love the grain on the side of the larger Orca, very "fluid" and fitting.
