Moved to washington a year ago and love it so much decided to grow my roots here. Glad I found this page and am looking forward to meeting fellow shooters and reloaders. Side note anyone near yelm know of a local spot for some load development? From what I can tell closest range is on jblm and it's only open weekends.

Thanks!!

Welcome to WaGuns, Nick!

Where did you move from? What calibers are you loading?

Oh hell yeah. :rockout:

Do you load subsonic 300BLK? If so, for a semi-auto or a bolt action? Got a favorite load you'd like to share?

And do you have a suppressor?

I am setup to load for subsonic but haven't got blessed off for the suppressor yet so currently load 16g of 4227 behind 150gr hornady soft points for plinking. It's a cmmg barreled ar15 platform build carbine length. 1moa at 100 meters but not so much after that.

Nice. I have been loading subsonic for an AR, but I recently got a bolt-action 300BLK so now I have a whole new quest . . . to get even quieter, since I don't need to worry about cycling the action anymore. Fun stuff, and an endless hobby, lol.

Absolutely!! The guy I was supposed to be getting my 225 pc cast boolits from keeps bailing on me so looks like I'm gonna have to find a new supplier for heavy cast. What powder were you using for subs for your semiauto?

My AR has an 8" barrel. Using a 240-grain Leatherhead bullet (http://leatherheadbullets.com/rifle-bullets/) with OAL 2.055", I did some experimenting with IMR 4227 but I wasn't able to get it to cycle the gun without the bullet going supersonic.

I finally got my hands on some AA1680, and it worked like a champ. I settled on 11.6 grains of powder, which gives me about 1050 fps. The gun actually cycled with as little as 10.5 grains of powder, which gave me 908 fps.

Then I bought a Ruger American in 300BLK. My normal subsonic loads (the 11.6 grains of AA1680) went supersonic from the longer 16" barrel, at 1191 fps. So in the interest of "science" I tried some Trail Boss loads with 110- and 147-grain bullets. They were just STUPID QUIET (suppressed, of course) but I wasn't able to get higher than 924 fps. I'm going to keep experimenting, maybe try some pistol powder like Titegroup or Unique.

Definitely. Wes is a member on here (sagewa), though he's so crazy busy packing boxes and running his Facebook page that we don't see him online here very often. I get over there to see him regularly, though. thumbsup

I shoot out at Upper Nisqually Sportsmen's Club in Eatonville. Open every day. Pretty reasonable annual rate. Once you are a member and get your safety brief you can use the ranges unsupervised. The ranges are all covered and they have lengths out to 550.
