I'm not originally from Texas so mountains would actually be a welcome change for me.
I've spent plenty of time in the sun, i could do without for a decade or so. :)
Houston is already crowded with horrible traffic so that wouldn't be much different for me.

Welcome, fellow Texan here. Grew up south of Waco and spent four years in Sugarland. It will be a bit of a culture shock, but if you are one of the few open-minded Texans you will fall in love with the Northwest in no time.

You might want to dig through this for hints about "Where to Live in WA To Freely Shoot In Your Backyard".

Welcome,

My wife and I moved from Dallas a few years ago. We don't miss the Texas summers, hail storms, or tornado warnings. We do miss the cost of living. Since we were no strangers to commuting, 30 miles East gets you some great views and more Texas like people. Dickies BBQ is around town, decent enough for a quick fix, but there are a couple of places around, run by southerners who can get the job done.

ugh, Houston summers would be reason enough to move somewhere else.

I'll probably find a place around Bellevue for the first year and explore surrounding areas.
I'd like to have a shorter commute for work but not be in the city.
Thanks for the BBQ recommendation rklaver.

TO each their own but Dickies.....nah....

Stan's KC BBQ in Issaquah is among my favorites... Pecos in Downtown Seattle of all places....
Should this be a new thread? (sorry)
