As said in the header, I just joined the group. I recently built my firs AR and I'm looking for a legal, appropriate, safe place to take it out in the woods where I can shoot 200-300 yards. I live in South Seattle and am hoping i can find someplace within an hour to hour and a half drive. Most of the places I used to know are now either off limits or are now posted non shooting.

Welcome to Wa Guns, Chef Mike, and welcome to the world of firearm collecting and recreational shooting. You can use the map on the following page to find ranges and "honey holes" in the woods. http://waguns.org/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=719You can also stop by any ranger station and speak to any park rangers there. It is legal to shoot in the Federal Forests provided it is done according to the following rules. http://www.fs.fed.us/recreation/programs/trails/welcome.shtml Furthermore, all of the rangers that I have met are very helpful and interested in steering the public towards safe areas where target shooting can be enjoyed responsibly.

I'm currently a kitchen manager at a small restaurant by the stadiums. I've been working in kitchens for about 15 years, at everything from fine dining Italian, to steakhouses, to mom and pop eateries. I went to culinary school at South Seattle community college. I grew up in Alaska going hunting and fishing with my dad and am now getting back into it.
