Hi all. Grew up in the great state of Washington, but I was stationed in KY for five years. Just recently arrived at JBLM. Glad to be back in the PNW. Most recent additions to the family are a Sig p938 (wife's edc) and a sp2022 (my new toy). Cheers!

I'm aware of range 15 on east gate road, but I'm somewhat adverse to the idea of registering my weapons on post. I also went to check out the pit in Rainier. I heard it's private property. I was also greeted by a man who was clearly under the influence of something and who was a self-proclaimed felon. Are there any other options that are inexpensive/free and that don't necessarily require me to join an organization to access the facility?

Yeah, it's a real shame so may people are so irresponsible. There would be tons of Weyerhauser land around here available for recreation if the *&$%#'s hadn't messed it up... Best bet now is probably The Triangle Pit (Waddell Creek), over in the Capitol Forest. Looks far away, but it's not too bad. Google maps will show you the backroads, and says it's 44-45 minutes from Yelm. Probably be better if you can go on a weekday - fewer idiots. If it's bad, you can head farther up for more pits. Only other advice is to find buddies with land...

Welcome, Yeah and my wife ran off with the 938 as well. It's one of the few that she can actually rack the slide without working hard at it.

Haha you too?! She still can't reassemble it though, the guide rod/spring combo is kind of a b*@#& to get back in there. So I do most of the weapons cleaning around here.

What's a Sealworth? 15 Salmon? A dozen Rangers?
Howdy!

Welcome aboard. The best range in the South Sound is Evergreen Sportsman's Club. It's affordable, friendly and open to the public. Www.shootesc.org. Thank you for your service.
