Hello members and lurkers alike.
I figured it was time to introduce myself to the site, as I've been a lurker for awhile here. I've been using WAGuns as a valuable resource for my firearm inquiries recently, and glad to have found the site anyway.
I'm a 23 year old school teacher and a pretty new real gun owner myself, having bought my first rifle not even a month ago (Weatherby Vanguard Series 2 for the curious.) I've had two pistols for two years, however, but wanted to start dabbling in hunting and longer range shooting. I'm also currently working on my first AR build.
I may be new owner, but have about six years of experience shooting and handling firearms, of all calibers and styles, with my stepdad. I consider myself a very safe and alert firearm owner, so hopefully don't scare people with the thought of a teacher with firearms at home.
At any rate, I'm currently in the search for a range to become a member of, one that would allow me to shoot my .308 rifle at. It seems that every time my buddy and I travel down Sultan Basin to shoot, the area we were at last month now sports "No Shooting" signs. Seriously people, pack out more than you bring, and we can all enjoy the outdoors together!
But enough about me. Thanks for all the posters on the site here, and I look forward to learning more about the community as a whole around the area.

Welcome! You might have to travel a bit further up HWY 2 to find a good outdoor spot you can drive up to, otherwise hike in on some of the Sultan Basin spots if I recall. I think the rule (use to be) 100 yards off a roadway. Some of that land up there is owned by a timber company which is the reason behind the new signs I think. There is a range up in Machias (Lk Stevens) that is a private range. Currently membership is full but you can get on the waiting list. https://www.seattlerifle.org/Good luck, happy shooting

Welcome to WaGuns, Caleb! You sound like a pretty interesting guy.
I'd take Ben (post above) up on his offer! Interlake is a good range, and when you're a city or suburbs dweller (like most of us are), it can be really tough to find good spots out in the woods to shot. You're probably better off just joining a range, and spending more time shooting and less time driving and searching.

Thanks for the help so far everyone.
Ben I'll probably take you up on that generous offer here if true. I'm in the South Lake Union area, very close to true downtown.
Thanks again!

Thanks again! Send me a PM. We will make it happen. I’m in Ballard. Let me know if you want to grab a beer sometime soon.
