ya it would be difficult to do in an apartment. its nice to have an area outside thats well ventilated. I like to soak and scrub all the parts in a bath of kerosene (5 gal bucket). but definitely do it your self there are lots of internet videos for the process. learn and know your gun inside and out before shooting it. inspect the empty casings after you shoot it for splits or bulges. I admit I do one handed headturned squint on the first couple shots of all my unknown milsurp stuff headspace check or not.

Humm get a can of brake clean and hose it down to get the cosmoline out then give it a good GI cleaning.
