I was really thinking that the shelf would sit on top of the fuel cell. same length and width as the shelf. If the cell is Five inches high and add another 1 1/2" nestled in between the frame,

you'd probably get the same or more fuel capacity.

This would also center the weight (right to left) of the fuel and cell.

Ah, I see, thats a fantastic idea. I would probably need to Tig weld my own tank, but spatially that would work great. I'll log that in my brain for future refrence. Thanks for the thought! Ill get it running, then go through and fix various stuff like this as time goes on.

Last big things before paint is brakes, chain tensioner, throttle cable extension, pedals, and floor.

Don’t mean to be an ass, but with all time an effort, you could have bought a Razor
It’s a cool project, but cost/vs reward is lost in the engineering
Have fun with it
I built a Honda Odessey when I was a kid ( like 12)
Put a Bultaco 360 engine in it
Made sure the front brakes worked at it was great
Probably cost $200 and a month of weekends
Are you going to be able to liscence this thing as a SxS?

Sometimes it's not about the dollars making sense, it's about fun and because you can.

No offense taken. And you are correct. But im 6'9", so I dont fit in mass produced stuff. I get so tired of not fitting stuff, I have decided to make things fit me when when I can. Tall showers, counters, mirrors, and now atvs, haha. Also, way less complicated, easier to work on, etc, if built on my own. Ive got three little kids, and I want the norm to be build/fix, not buy. There is a heck of alot that is learned in the process too, something that takes time, and is useful in other fields. I have been wanting to learn about working with metal for a while.

The long term plan is to have a small fleet of vehicles for the kids/wife.
Ill register it as an ORV, but ill figure that stuff out later.

Yup, good choices all around. Mounted the wood fired offset smoker/multi port rocket stove to the front bumper via the 2" reciever. It can be removed like a standard 2" attachment

Never saw a smoker on an atv. Sure can’t buy that at the razor dealership.

So crazy it just might work...

I think you need another fuel tank on the other side to balance it out. Maybe put a nosecone and some fins on them too

Since the last pic ive put on an oil catch can, installed fuel lines, fired it up for the first time, put the floors in, and I just finished the chain tensioner. Built from a scrap metal and a skateboard tire I found on a walk.

Lots of stuff done since last post:
-Oil catch can mounted
-Swapped out all chinese fuel lines for American made
-Installed fuel line from tank with filter and shutoff valve to engine.
-Welded on pedals.
-Made brackets for pedals and associated hardwar.
-Connected throttle
-Installed master cylinder
-Ran brake lines to rear caliper #1, and filled with fluid.
-Installed handbrake (the two calioers are 100% seperate hydraulic wise, in case if failure).
-Installed hydraulic push button parking brake
-Ran brake lines back to rear swingarm
-Welded up a battery tray
-Mounted battery (35amp 12v)
-Broke in motor for about 4 hours on idle, used a zinc additive.
-Made bracket for brake caliper #2
-Currently working on an alternator bracket.
-Picked final color and purchased paint. Black base coat, rainbow/violet metal flake, and clear coat. "Nightshade by Rothco"
-Welded on mounts for shackles on roof, bumper, and back end of buggy. Shackles will be used first to hang everything for painting.
