Hope that’s the production date, and not the expiration date…

Something managed to find its way to me... Attachment: 1695170580815.jpg So, 939 series trucks had ABS added to them, due to some issues with panic braking stalling the engine, causing loss of control when the engine cut out due to no power steering. This system is made by Haldex, and is a military specific item. The only real service of them in the civilian world is to just replace parts, since the reader is unobtanium, and hope you picked the right part to replace. Well, the ABS light was illuminated, which indicated a system fault, but all the apparent self-checks were working, eg it wasn't a failed solenoid or something. I was tempted to buy a spare ECU, since they're known to be voltage sensitive, but if it passed the solenoid self check then the ECU wasn't bad.... I was kinda stuck. Now, being that this came from the FD, they had the 'fuck it, just cut it' method of removing all the emergency equipment. So I had a hunch this is what happened, but didn't know where any of the wiring was... and decided to wait a bit to find someone who had the reader before I wasted hours tracing everything. Well, as luck would have it, I found a reader. It wasn't cheap, but I got it. 30 seconds later... it spat out my fault code.. Attachment: 1695171254640.jpg Fault code? Open/Shorted sensor, drivers side rear.... Attachment: 1695171293512.jpg Poke my head behind the tire, expecting the worst (realigning/inserting the sensor requires a lot of work)... .and.. waddya know.... Attachment: 20230921_152759.jpg Bundled up with all the wires cut from the FD, was the ABS sensor wire.. .cut clean through... Apparently FD used it as a tie point to secure their wiring for their flashing lights, then just cut the wires in the bundle, not realizing the bundle had an ABS sensor wire in it too...

Went to a dealer to talk to him about a reefer.
He said he's got another reefer in stock, with no refrigeration... PERFECT.
I make an offer, he says it's about where we need to be $$ wise, and expect a call the next day around a specific time.
Next day, no call. I wait a bit and call him - OOPS... he forgot to talk to his boss. He'll call me the next day...
Next day.... again, no call.. I call him.... Boss decided he's gonna use the box.. for something.. but oh, they have the box with the working reefer for 3x more.... ($2k vs $6k)... and he tries to push me to that. I flat out tell him it's not gonna happen because I don't need to refrigeration portion, and he knew that 30 seconds after meeting me, so he decides to 'help me out' and drop it to $5k... Umm no.
It's a fiberglass/foam box, from an east coast company - They're not sold out here - and NOT aluminum, meaning there's no scrap value.
I dunno if he's trying to play hardball and thinking I'll cave, or if the boss is being an idiot and not wanting to make money, but...
WTF.

Find out what days he’s not there, and go in on one of those days.
