Cardinal Guns is pleased to introduce you to a unique weapon- one that fires the 5.56mm NATO cartridge from a handgun. This is not a Short Barreled Rifle (SBR) that is made from an AR-15 platform, and unlike a SBR, does not require a BATFE tax stamp and $200 fee.

The EXTAR pistol contains many convenient and cost effective features. One of these is incorporation of standard AR-15 magazines, so if you desire to carry more ammo, there is a plentiful supply of AR-15 magazines on the market.

EXTAR EXP-556 accessories range from the above mentioned drum magazine to a Tri Rail Upgrade kit which will put 3 Picatinny rails on the forward handguard so you can hang a flashlight, mount a laser sight, or place a holographic sight forward of the receiver.

5 pistols have already been sold/ spoken for. Go to my online shop and purchase one for yourself before they are gone. You can also PM me and I can reserve one for you.

I doubt it, AR15L...the Extar has a polymer receiver, the bolt cutout is in the receiver, and it appears that Extar figured out the recoil spring. Here is a link to a video review: https://youtu.be/sUqLfWS0r8g

Any way to mount a brace to it yet? That is a neat little package.

There is an accessory called the Tacti-Mount, however the manufacturer is re-designing it. In paralell, one of my colleagues is looking at making a stiffer mount for an arm brace. Right now, there is a sling mount accessory available.

So they remade the Kel Tec PLR 16 and called it original?
Close or same price, both shoot 5.56 and both are polymer framed and light.
I love my Kel Tec, can't shoot thing and not be happy.

I wonder what kind of velocities come out of it. I'm assuming it is an eardrum breaker like the Keltec. Looks like a cool package for the price.

I guess the muzzle blast is significant from these AR pistols, as would be expected.

As for concealment and/ or keeping it in your vehicle, Allen makes a bag that will hold a scoped Extar and several magazines plus sundry other items. The great thing is that it does not appear to be your typical rifle bag: http://allencompany.net/store/encore-contender-pistol-case-w-2-extra-barrel-pockets.html

I suppose it would be possible, but it might require a re- design of the rear of the lower receiver, or at the very least, a strong mount.
