Keep posting your successes folks!
It's looking more and more like my entire season is gonna be spent recovering from knee injury/surgery  Started having problems with it the week before early modern, in and out of the Dr. over the next couple weeks, before finally get sent to an Ortho, who told me I had Septic Prepetellar Bursitis in my knee and that it needed to be removed surgically and ASAP, because of how long it had been infected. Was in surgery a day and a half later (last Friday). Removed the infection and the infected Bursa. Stuck in a knee immobilizer for a minimum of 2 weeks, possibly longer depending on how fast it heals. Get the staples out Monday at least.
So I'm depending on you guys to keep posting up your hunting kills, so at least I get a taste of the season. Me and Dom were really looking forward to this year, been a pretty shitty one. looking forward to seeing what ya'll get during late season :cheers2:

Unless a bear pops up while I'm in the forest, I won't be bringing any meat home. My deer and elk seasons were a bust. It's up the YL to bring home the meat during late deer season.

So duck hunting on the coast is as good as it gets right now. My hunting partner and I have limited out 5 times, out of 5 trips. This is today, 12 widgeon with 2 pintail. My dog has 70 retrieves already this season, and is becoming a rock star level retriever at 2 1/2 years old.

Yes. Every time we go he gets better at diving for cripples, getting double retrieves, always starting with the farthest bird first and hustling back to the blind. He knows what he's doing, and knows he's doing it well. He also doesn't leave the blind until told to. A lot of dogs jump when you shoot. Sometimes you need them to hold if more birds are coming. Also, believe it or not, sometimes we shoot and don't drop a bird. He's totally chill, until it's time to get birds, then he's all business. He's got a real James Bond style developing.

Our elk trip was a snow out....
Two feet by opening morning, an moving camp lower all day Sunday.
Legs and back were fully shot by Tuesday pushing through snow an trying to find some fresh sign. They all got smart and left the mountain in search of warmer climate and feed....
Deer rut started early and had the bucks chasing tail two weeks ago and saw them everywhere elk hunting, so hoping they'll still be active for late buck in a couple of days.
Have a good handful of Bobcats running around so might go after another one for the living room this weekend.
Eating unused tags sucks.....

Luckily I saw him first and moved out of the trail using a small brush as cover, but he knew something wasn't right, and stopped at 20yds from me. I had my bow up and my hat down just barely looking through the brim of my hat. It felt like hours as we just stared at each other. He decided to cut left to another game trail, which gave me an opportunity to range a shot window at 36yds. He paused again and started to pick up his pace which at this point I drew my bow back and aimed directly at the window to my right. Once the bucks front shoulder passed I released the arrow hitting the buck in the sweet spot. I watched the buck take off as the arrow was hitting every branch and twigs as he ran off to only be found 60yds from where I shot him.

I’m eating tag soup this year. Turkey, cougar, bear, elk, deer. Nada. Zip. Bummer.

Jealous. I've only grabbed one this season out of 3 trips. A couple cripples that dove on me and never could find. A dog would have been great. Then two trips turned out to be blue bird days. And one day of boat breakdown...

My German shepherd is ironically terrified of guns and also not a fan of water.

Thanks fellas, thanks Jagerbomber35,. It takes a lot of patience to hunt theses guys especially doing archery. I’ve passed up a lot of deers during the opening season, and I missed a lot of bigger ones also. It’s a challenge, and a rush to get these guys in bow range, especially hunting elk. I missed two big 6x, either shot under or shot over, still not done trying. Good luck next year!
