Anyone go shrimping off Hoodsport this last Saturday?
I've had good luck there past years.
Thinking about going out on the 20th if it's worth the trip.

Limited Saturday and today both...better results in water over 300'...the deeper we went the better our pots produced.

In the wrong country this year. Might get out, but I hand pull. 300' gets pretty rough.

Hard to keep any shrimp in the pot by hand pulling...the little bastards squirt out the mesh. If you use a gas or even electric puller they get forced to the back edge and it's harder to get away. I use a Briggs 3hp with gear reduction and a capstan. Will pull 300' a minute pretty easy.

That's what I normally use and have great success with. Usually put them in 250-280' of water. But this year so far they have been running deeper, so I had to put some extensions on...

Make sure you have at least 5lbs. (10 is better) of weight in the pots. Seen several pots be lost this year from the wind and current bouncing light pots off the shelf and into the abyss.

I run 10lbs of soft scuba weights in mine...never lost a pot yet. But it would suck to lose $150 worth of pot and gear.
