Coyotes are eating pets all over the neighborhood. So no...not going to bait them with my pets :)

I knew a guy who would take his cat out in a pet carrier. The cat would howl bloody murder and the coyotes would come running in.

Growing up, we would tie up feed rabbits upside down a couple hundred yards away, they scream just the right amount every 5-10 minutes. Cruel I know, but what we did 40 years ago.
Had a mouth call I'd use on occasion, but rabbits worked wonders.
Gut piles......Hit the butcher up and fill up a five gal bucket with whatever was going to rendering plant.
While this is inhumane, if you don't want to deal with the garbage and body, gut shot. It will run far and hide, were it will die.
Again, it's cruel to think that way, but no different if your shot is a gut wound unintentional. Besides, I have no respect for coyote or racoons.
Growing up on somewhat of a farm, two of the most hated animals on legs.
Crows on the other hand, got smart with a gun. But, catching them in the pens, and releasing with a long fused stick of July party favors, to fly back to their buddies, kept them at bay most of the time.

All cruel, to anyone other than a farmer, at least in my time growing up.

So since we're going to be neighbors soon....got some feed rabbits?

Not just no, but hell no!
Rabbits were one of our animals I hated, and ducks/geese, I will never raise any of those again.
I'd get back into raising pheasant, quail and occasional grouse that we raised and released on our property.
The rest, too much work and way to much shit.

Was cool to have the birds all over though, which brought in coyotes and racoons.....

Which, brings back bad memories.....
Every morning my mom noticed I may have a hangover, out to the pens to clean them out.......And puke everywhere and on unfortunate animals in the way of the stream of vomit.
From 15-18 years old, hadn't learned when to stop, my idea of stopping was when I was outta booze. Fortunately by the time I was 24-25, never got another hangover!(probably from getting tired of puking at 0500 during PT)

You don't need a hunting license on your own land right? Just not allowed to keep the pelts?

I'd love to try my hand at coyote hunting!

Thats why I've never had the desire to raise rabbits.

Looks like you can't invite friends... Seems a bit silly considering you yourself as a property owner might not have the skills necessary to defend your domestic animals.

Hated those damned animals. Breeding......those fuckers multiply tenfold in a matter of months. A few get loose, and you've got them all over, and attract predators.
Eating them wasn't all that bad but not great in my opinion, I like fat on meat, rabbits have none.
An don't get me started on goats. Taste like shit and I learned throat punching long before I went in the army...

When we finally move, cattle and birds are going to be only animals I'm going to raise for food.

It says carcass, but what about the pelt? I went to sporkboys place, but I had a small game licence anyway.
