My kids' first bird hunt

My 13 yr old son and 15 yr old daughter are out in Idaho on their first hunt ever. They're pheasant hunting with my uncle. I couldn't break away from work and am bummed to miss it, but I'm stoked for the kids. My uncle has 3 good dogs, is a lifetime hunter, and is probably a better teacher than me, so I'm happy they got the opportunity. Weather was great, sunny but COLD, when they headed out on Friday. First bird flushed within 30 mins, on my daughter's side, but she missed. Second bird popped at about the hour mark, on my son's side, and on his very first shot, of his very first hunt, he dropped his first bird! I think he's going to be spoiled after that, LOL!

They're already scheming how to start earning range time too, 'cause ammo aint cheap anymore!

I just loaded up 970 rounds of 223 plinking ammo, the total was $302. It helps when you can find stuff that you rathold years ago at common prices back then.

Agreed! I'm sitting on a decent pile of shotgun ammo dated as far back as 2015, but replacement cost is +65% on some of that!
