By far the best cake recipe I've come across is this one for car bomb cupcakes:

https://www.browneyedbaker.com/irish-car-bomb-cupcakes/

I made them for St. Patrick's Day several years ago. It's a helluva lot of work to make all the components and then assemble it into a cupcake.

The cake recipe is incredibly good on its own. I've made it a few times without doing the filling and frosting.

^^^ I expect the alt-left will be banning those shortly, just based on the name alone. :ROFLMAO: We don't tolerate violent cupcakes.

i am disappoint in this here thread, son. i expected to find two pages full of recipes and pictures of amazing cake, but no, i just find gibberish. therefore, i must give away one of my most prized internet secrets, tiramisu.
Chef Dennis knows what he's talking about. i've made this tiramisu over ten times, each time a true hit.

My cooking is the culinary equivalent of a car bomb, so I won't be trying any of these recipes. They all look really good, though.

be warned if you have never made tiramisu before, my first time making this was a disaster. here's a link to a video by chef dennis where he talks a TON....but has a couple/few very important tips on making this tiramisu. the first time, mine came out deconstructed, it was very loose and did not hold a shape. i suffered through this entire video in order to learn what i did wrong, and my second time making this recipe was an incredible difference.

Most of the Tiramisu I've had lately in WA has been too soggy.

Oh wow that carrot cake looks great. Thanks for the post Q.

Have to admit one of my all time favorites, besides carrot cake, is good old fashioned German Chocolate Cake. When I was a kid there was the added bonus that my older brother was allergic to coconut thereby ensuring that I could eat my own birthday cake at leisure without fear that my brother would devour the leftovers before I could get to them
