Wish I had the pics for it, but made bacon mushroom ravioli from scratch. The bacon is from a batch I did not that long ago. Normally I use a cream sauce, but my wife has had issues with dairy lately so I switched it up to a red sauce. I make a base with some small sweet tomatoes, garlic, mushrooms, butter, chopped sun dried tomatoes, and a little red wine. After that cooks for a while I add the Trader Joe's marinara sauce. It's been a winner in our house, especially for the price. Despite the complaints from the kids I still cook a lot of stuff from scratch. We can't eat pizza and mac n' cheese everyday. Gotta mix it up. Some day they'll come around.

Oh and if you are looking for some great heavy cream for a great white sauce, get yourself some Twin Brook heavy cream. It comes in the glass bottle, and it is thick. Not so good for you, but super rich and super tasty.

Had to work today.
Took the kids to Taco Bell for a Grande Meal.
7 Burritos, 2 soft tacos, and 1 crunchy taco for $12.90.
Pretty good deal, bag must have weighed 10 pounds.

Great deal for the money.

Girlfriend is working today . . . I got out of bed, prepared to have a cup of yogurt for breakfast, per usual. Found a surprise dozen eggs in the fridge, I sure hope she didn't have plans for them....

Scrambled three eggs, raided the fridge for other stuff like red onion, a pile of sharp cheddar, and a bunch of garlic. Found some old freezer-burned langostinos in the freezer, grabbed a handful of those. Cooked it up, put more cheese on top.

YUM.

I pulled four pounds of that Patagonia shrimp that we've been talking about, and made a quadruple batch of this recipe, with a few modifications of course:

Shrimp in Thai Coconut Sauce

The result:

In Nebraska, these are called Runzas - trademark name. Beef, onions, cabbage, and seasonings in a bread pocket. The whole family loves them.

Made them last night from scratch, and used left-over filling to make more tonight.

Damn, that looks really good! I'm going to Costco today, will get more shrimp either there or at QFC if the Patagonian's are still on sale.
