Looks great! Hopefully you kept the shells to make stock with?

Yeah, that was my lame "did I do it right" joke in my post above. That first pic is the shells simmering in the sauce; I gave it about ten minutes, then strained it and threw out the shells.

The trick with this shrimp is in how they are prepared. They cook very fast. They are excellent sauteed or boiled. Do not steam them, it is too hard to control the cooking time. They are fully cooked when the flesh turns from translucent to opaque. If you over cook them, they'll shrink and become chewy."

Indeed applies to most any shellfish. Just bring to the edge of rawness and shut that shit down!

+1

Just barely cooked is the ticket.

I like to blanche the shrimp

Boil water. Once the water is at a rolling boil remove from heat, throw the shrimp in, and let stand while covered for a bit.

Bump for another sale @ $5.99/lb
That price is as good as I've seen it.
($13.99 when not on sale)
Ad says good 8-30-17 through 9-5-17

Was going to buy shrimp at Business Costco, glad I held off.

These dudes are awesome. I'll open a bag and toss what I don't use in a ziploc, mega easy to grab a couple for ramen or eggs. I make a spicy cocktail sauce and it counters the sweetness of the shrimp. Shrimp are one of my favorites, I just wish I had a big ass freezer

Got a picture of the bag. Last time I was in there I could not find what you guys were talking about.

Back on sale through 12-24-17.
Either frozen sealed 2 pound bags that weigh a bit over, or thawed in the seafood display.
Look a little bigger than last time.

My wife went to the Redmond Ridge QFC yesterday and took one of her friends. Apparently there's a restriction on the number you can buy (5), otherwise the price for any over 5 goes up to $25/ea (I think, don't quote me, whatever the regular price is, fookin' expensive). So she bought 5 and so did her friend, and since they'd each gotten 10 packs, were getting ready to walk rest of them back to the freezer when the checker says, "well, what if we just run them through on another transaction?". Problem solved and we have a bunch more in our deep freezer.

Thanks for the head's up, we love eating these.

QFC has been awesome in my experience.
They had some Jagermeister on sale, didn't ring up at the advertised price ($22/half gallon, had two of them).
The store manager said it was a pricing error, and it was illegal to sell them to me at a loss (which it is) but said if I paid full price, she would pay me back the difference in gift cards (about $60-70 IIRC)

Safeway would just tell you the price was wrong and void the transaction.

My wife & I both prefer QFC to Safeway, but Safeway is a mile down the road, and QFC is across the valley and up the ridge, so nowhere near as convenient. However, I pass both in both directions to and from work, so it's easy to stop wherever when it's needed.
